@doors4ever

Going to see my GI doctor at Mayo and plan to discuss Motegrity.

Thanks!

Hi marshae,

Did you follow up with your Dr about Motegrity? Any results you can share.

I take Motegrty for CIC but have to "help" that with Dulcolax and I shouldn't be doing that. Motegrity alone though didn't get things, ummm, moving enough. Just wondering if you tried it and the results.

CIC is extremely frustrating, and I'm sure everyone here relates. At least people are kind enough to share what works and hasn't worked because we all have different results. In addition to the Motegrity and Dulcolax, I've made it a practice to take Miralax every night before bed. I'll just say it keeps things movable. And I eat a lot of fresh fruit and raw vegetables.

I won't have another appointment until at least January. I will be looking into the ICV massages that were recommended.
I am on two prescriptions prucalopride and pyridostigmine and thought they were working quite well until now.
I take Restoralax when needed which is about every other day.
I am not a big fruit lover but try to have bananas on my cereal.

And FWIW, I don't think the fiber in most fruits and vegetables will help with CIC, they just help with whatever else we need to use to keep things moving........ The main benefit of fresh fruits and vegetables is nutrition, imo.

They think things are moving slow. I have pains when I eat. I also have mals so they aren’t sure which is causing the pain

I had similar symptoms - fried foods, dairy and high fat foods gave me stomach pain and I had a Hida scan, which showed my gallbladder was malfunctioning.

I am taking Domperidone - 10 mg. for motility issues before I eat. New Zealand or Canada exports it. My Gastro doctor sends the prescription to the company importing the med. and it is mailed to me. Hope you feel better soon.

I looked up Motegrity and it is the same drug as Prucalopride which I have been taking for over a year. I believe it does help but I still take Restoralax when I feel I need it.

Went on Motegrity about 2 months ago. The dosage at 1/2 pill morning & night did nothing. Went to 2 pills a day and every 3-5 days I would spend the day in the bathroom. So we’ve gone to 1.5 pills/day and it still needs adjusting. My doc thinks it could be my SIBO interfering so it is breath testing time and the possibility of the Elemental Diet next up. I would love to find a balance where it would just work like it is meant to work!

Thanks marshae. First I've heard of RestoraLAX. Looks like a fiber supplement.

There are so many things I take/try to deal with CIC. I can't say with certainty what works. It's hit and miss and I guess that's why it's "idiopathic" - a fancy medical word for "we don't know the cause or causes".

I have been taking one Prucalopride 2 mg daily for over a year and still have to use Restoralax when not having 2 bowel movements a day.

I'm surprised your GI didn't give you any recommendations on medications. Do you have constipation and has a cause been identified? I ask because my daughter was once prescribed Linzess to speed transit time and is often used for IBS-C. There are many other medications as well. In my daughter's situation things got much worse and one thing she learned was that fiber was a bad thing for her. This is why I'm a little sensitive to public recommendations. I would never had thought that.
