How to move/exercise with multiple conditions (lung, depression, pain)
I was told I have adhd with depression.
If i dont have appointments outside the house or pt at home, I want to stay in bed and sleep or reading or making necessary business calls.
I am not motivated to exercise between pt sessions 2xs a week.
Even tho my hips hurt and my legs are weak despite my exercise on those areas, I need to be able to wall and stand longer, at age 77, because I want to stay independent. But I want to be able to use my stairs without losing my breath and my legs so weak. I have BE with mac and Psuedomonisis and just use an inhaler twice a day, but am having dry coughs and is this OK? I need to desperately use weight but without walking or exercising, I wonder why I feel comforted in my bed and not exercising. The pain is bearable but after exercising, the pain is worse. When I finally get out of bed to eat or get up, its painful to get out of a chair or my car. Is this just depression. Trauma is part of it. Im trying to find a nueropsychologist per my psych nurse and therapy. Im taking a very part time job helping other seniors because I need purpose by helping others and a reason to get out of bed.
Once im up and dressed for a purpose, I feel better but anxious.

@tevadog, you're asking a great question. I have added your question to a couple of additional support groups, including:

I did this to help you connect with other members who are familiar with dealing with multiple health conditions and who want to live well, like @sueinmn @johnbishop @josey1 @scoop and many others.
@tevadog, do you do breathing exercises for you lung conditions? They may be a great place to start. You might also check out chair yoga. Have you heard of that?
If u can afford it, perhaps a personal trainer on the days you don’t have PT would motivate you to exercise daily. Maybe take Sunday off as a rest day. PTs are much more knowledgeable than trainers, I’ve found PTs to be very willing to write down an exercise program that the trainer can use to support you. Just an idea…
@tevadog Managing multiple conditions is no picnic - I am so happy you can find purpose in helping others. Now, how can we help you translate this into helping yourself?
Do you have access to a senior center where you live? Many have exercise programs geared to older people who need to get into better physical condition.
You mentioned BE and MAC - are you on medication for those other than your inhaler? MAC is an infection, and if your body is fighting it, it can be very tiring.
What is ONE thing you think you can do today to help get to your goal of feeling stronger?
