HOW TO HAVE MY KNEE WORK PROPERLY?

Posted by northglenn @northglenn, Jun 27, 2023

I am 6 months post TKR. Started out ok . However after 3-4 months knee felt as though it had turned as hard as concrete. There is a very hard lump on top just behind kneecap and another on right side of kneecap that makes it very difficult walking. I have worked diligently with all the exercises, 4-5 hours a day. I use massage gun, stretch straps and ride stationary exercise bike. Everything I do is extremely painful. However, I still do the exercises. In the past 2 months it has become worse. I have researched and have not found anybody with same problem after tkr. Thanks for any help or advice.

@northglenn Have you talked to your doc and the PT? It sounds like you may have a buildup of scar tissue. If so, it is important to address it as soon as you can - the longer it builds up the harder it is to get rid of.
If you go to the Joint Replacement Support Group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/joint-replacements/
and put scar tissue in the search box, you will be able to connect to others who have had this issue.

Other than home remedy? Is there a [procedure for removing scar tissue? I can massage the scar tissue . However, it comes back.
Thank you.
