How to deal with stomach problems

Posted by lgk2948 @lgk2948, Dec 17, 2023

My wife is stage IV, diagnosed in July 2023, she has endured 10 chemo sessions. Her C19 went form 880 to 1200 and is now on G/A. She is suffering from stomach problems, although she takes a Creon 36k unit as she starts her meal, she is suffering from stomach problems. Any one else had this problem, what remedies should she use, perhaps increase the number of Creon she takes? She also suffering from knee problems. I am 75 she 67, I am her care provider.

in reply to @lgk2948 I am so sorry! Has your wife tried any form of ginger to calm her stomach? I buy some terrific candied ginger at Trader Joe's for my stomach issues, and it really helps a great deal. Ginger tea is also an alternative, as is Dandelion tea that was just given to me by my pharmacist. Best of luck.

I’m so sorry she’s having so much trouble. I take up to 4 Creon pills every meal. I also started a probiotic and that seems to help.

My husband is also stage 4. I read that alot of stomach pains can be nerve related. His pain Dr started him on Lyrica. He takes one before bed. It has helped him sleep and has been extremely helpful with stomach pains. Since he’s been taking the Lyrica he’s been more active and much less pain. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Could be coincidental but also a miracle drug at the same time. I’ve taken lyrica for nerve pain and I suggested it.

He’s had 6 treatments G/A so far. Has your wife had a CT scan? My husband will have one beginning of January. He was diagnosed in October.

Creon as well as any of the pancrealipase products need to be optimized based on the meal ingredients, particularly fat content and quantity. There is an on-line dosing calculator that makes the dosing optimization easier.

She had a CT Scan and a PET scan. The results are a barely visible tumor and the lesions on her liver are completely gone. I think the chemo was hard on her and she is feeling the after effects emotionally. She has just begun the G/A regime so she may be having a hard time adapting to it. She is eating 4 little meals a day, and today, her stomach pain is diminished. She is fighter and I remind her that it takes time to recover from the chemo. I just looked up her latest c19-9 count and it has decreased from 1200 to 973.
