How to cure piroformis muscle pain
Recently diagnosed with piroformis muscle strain.Sending me to PT and then for cortizone shot.If shot doesn’t work then hip replacement.Does this sound like a good course of action?

That should be decided by how much cartilage is left in your hip. A simple xray will show that.
Hello, John, I would think there are more steps to your treatment than to try one shot, then go right to replacing your hip. Talk with your physical therapist about your options, as well as your primary doctor. Good luck!

1 Reaction@johnob69 Hmm...that's a big leap, unless the doctor also ordered x-rays that show the hip needs replacing. Usually, conservative treatments are tried first, you can see a good description here:

It is important to be patient as well - if the muscle is strained, healing will take time.
Did you see your primary doc, or an orthopedic surgeon?
