How safe is valsartan?

Posted by chilindrina @chilindrina, Jun 12, 2023

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, was prescribed lisinopril only 5mg. I got a dry cough soon after I started taking it. Went to the saw the PA and she changed my medication to Valsartan 40mg. One of the side effects is that it can cause cancer.

It appears there was a concern about possible malignancies a decade ago. More studies were done and the FDA concluded there was no increased risk.

My sister is on one and I would take it if I was prescribed it.

You could talk to your pharmacist or go back to your provider and ask more questions.
