How long can I go without airway clearance?

Posted by @ling @wangling, Mar 16, 2023

Hi all,
I would like to know your experiences because I am thinking about a trip to China and Japan, which will take about 20-24 hours including the time on the flight and layovers. That means I probably won't be able to do my airway clearance. Anyone have experiences about getting by without airway clearance for that long and not getting sick?

Many thanks!
Ling

Maybe you could experiment and try going without for one day to see how you feel? Then keep in mind the added exposure and stress of the long flight. It depends on how much mucus you produce each day. In the early days of my Bronchiectasis I could skip one day if really necessary. I would make up for it the next day so it would work out. Now I could never skip a day.

If you've got a portable/travel nebuliser with you you can always use it discreetly somewhere
