How is infra red treatment?

Posted by painfully64 @painfully64, Feb 6 7:32pm

As I promised now having recieved my infrared treatment kit I would share pics and results. My kit came from the VA and is made by a company called health kit. At 20 minuets twice a day depending on weather and other elements I do get minimal to decent relief most of the time. Results last from about 1 hour to as long as 3 or 4 hours depending on activity and again elements. I also have this done while doing some minor physical activity at a PT place for balance and strength. Will answer what I can but my time is limited right now so may be a day or 2. Don't give up friends

There are many infrared LED lamps available for sale on eBay, Amazon, etc. But there are different wavelengths available. Most are around 630 to 660 nm. Does your VA kit literature say what wavelength it operates at?
Glad to hear it is helpful. I have read a few scientific papers say that IR light can stimulate nerve growth. Keep using it for a few months and please report back.

Good Morning~
Just to add to the info re: infrared therapy. I've been using the 'belt' whenever I get my mid-back pains....I set the time for 30 minutes and just sit and relax with the gentle heat radiating on my painful spine area...I have compression frxs..T-8-T10....I don't take the prescription meds for my osteo..prefer to do these other modalities....so far..it totally takes away my pains and allows me to carry on without having to even take any OTC meds. I've been using this type of therapy for a couple of years now and feel good using it. I got the Life=pro belt..I can put it across my sore knees as well..it all helps! It's interesting that the VA is also seeing the benefits of this as well.
Even if one cannot spend the money on this...I have also used a hot wrap on my back/knees and that also feels really good and relaxes my muscles enough to get me out of discomfort for many hours....Amazon has the hot/cold wraps...just microwave it for about 1.45 seconds and what a relief!! Hope this helps many!! Blesssings to you all.
