How do you recognize people if you can't clearly see their faces?

How do people with low vision recognize people when they can't clearly see their faces?
If they talk, I can often recognize their voice. When sitting around a table at a group meeting, my wife will often tell me who we are with.
Name tags can sometimes be helpful if the print is large enough.
I'm curious how others with low vision deal with this problem?
