How do you keep your PICC line dry while showering?

Posted by steveron @steveron, Sep 22 1:30pm

we used Press N Seal for showers when my wife was on Folfirinox. It worked but was a little difficult to put on. She just started GA chemo and we would like to know what others use to keep their PICC lines dry during showers. Thanks.

@steveron Good morning, I just noticed your question was out here unanswered. After my daughter had extensive wrist surgery and the wound was slow to heal, we used a product called Shower Shield.

There are a number of others available, and a lot of sizes. They can also be cut into smaller pieces.

My husband got a shrink wrap roll that has a handle that he just uses to shrink wrap his arm. It keeps his PICC dry and he can do it himself.😃

Hi, Please check Amazon. They have a large variety. The ones I’ve used are sleeves that are reusable. There is a water-tight rubber closure on each end. They truly are water tight and keep my are a line completely dry. So much easier than wrapping, raping and worrying.
I think my sleeve cost about $15.

@wf0439, good tip and trick. How is your husband doing on chemo? How are you?

It is a struggle for sure. We are doing pretty good physically. Randy, my husband is about to do his 11 chemo cycle. We have an appointment booked for Mayo in Rochester at the beginning of November. I am doing my best to stay both physically and mentally strong for the battle ahead. Sometimes I do that successfully and sometimes not so well but tomorrow is another day to do better 😀
