How do you get a full DEXA report with images?
Does the request have to be on your DEXA order from your doctor? If it's not, can I just tell them when I go to have the DEXA that that is what I want? Thanks!

@jw9 I don't know what I'd do in this field of osteo if not for the people on this site and on other sites.
I was just telling my husband this morning that not one doctor who I've seen so far has told me anything about what I should or shouldn't do about this condition.
The only advice I've been given so far?
a. You probably should be on medication
b. Don't sneeze or you'll break a bone
So helpful! And wrong.

2 ReactionsI would have your doctor write on the order to give a printed copy of the full report including images to the patient at the time the test is done. Also, I would check with the place you’re having the test done to make sure they will do that. If not, I would try to find a place that will. My doctor always gives me the full report.

2 Reactions@darlenef I already have the order from my doctor which doesn't stipulate anything about providing me a full report and my test is next week; at this point I'm not going to try to get a revised order and will just ask for it at the imaging center. I want to go to that particular place because that is where I had my last DEXA done and it is in my insurance plan's network. If I can't get a full report from them for some reason I will ask my doctor for it. Although neither of my last two doctors seem to have had any more of a report than I did.

1 Reaction@gravity3 Love that advice!
I’ve had 2 endocrinologists tell me that in the last 6 months. Interestingly, the most knowledgeable one, followed that advice with “yes you can continue skiing since you’ve been doing it for 45 years” but try not to fall. She also told me to disregard the DEXA spine numbers as there was too much arthritis and bone spurs for valid readings. Something the technician at my last scan also suggested. Also turning 80 next month and still falling apart.

3 Reactions@gravity3 The fearmongering culture we currently live in is getting old. So glad we have sites like these to balance it out.
