How can I schedule with gastro dept at Scottsdale Mayo?
I was diagnosed by having EUS two IPMN side branch cysts and indication of mild chronic pancreatitis a year ago. I lost 14 pounds, had no appetite, and stomach hurt. I feel better now but I want a second opinion. Scottsdale Mayo told me they did not take Advantage plans so I changed to insurance they accept. It just started on 1/1/25. Now, they tell me they have no openings in the gastro dept. for the next 3 months. They only schedule out 3 months at a time. No waitlist. Scheduling Dept told me to try some place else. Any advice how to get around the gatekeeper?

@harry123, it sounds like you have done everything correctly to request an appointment at Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic receives more requests for appointments than available openings, especially in high-demand areas like gastroenterology. You might consider asking your doctor to make a physician referral. Physician referrals and patient self-referrals are given equal priority, but it may be worth a try.
Thanks. That was my next direction.
