How can I ever get my messages back through my email?!?

Posted by migizii @migizii, Mar 6, 2023

@migizii…..I have contacted Connie twice and followed all of her directions. Nothing has worked and I am wondering if anyone else got cut off from their email notifications and if so, did they find a way to get them back. Presently, the site is now feeling so much less beneficial because it is so difficult to access anything. I don’t know if I’ll be able to find responses, but I will keep looking. Thanks so much and take care everyone!

As of March 1, 2023, the notification system has changed. You now have options to be notified by email and you can use the notifications onsite.

You will continue receive an emails for the following:
- the daily digest: A summary of the previous day's activity
- when a member @mentions you
- when a member replies to a post you made
- when a member reacts to a post you made
- when a member sends you a private message

Formerly you could choose to receive an email for every new post made to a support group. This resulted in too many emails on too many topics, overwhelming many members and causing them to leave the online community.

Now you can choose to get emails for all new posts for discussions of interest to you.

HOW TO GET EMAILS FOR ALL NEW POSTS BY DISCUSSION
1. Select a group from the Support Groups you follow. See My Support Groups (http://connect.mayoclinic.org/account).
2. Select a discussion of interest to you and click the bell icon in the bottom right of the first message.
3. Select "Send me an email and on-site notifications".
4. Click "Save Setting".

@migizii..although this is the new system due to people complaining about the number of posts being received, it would have been nice to survey your members before changing the system again. This is not a user friendly system for me as I liked perusing posts or simply deleting what didn’t apply. I gained so much valuable information that does not reveal itself through this new format. If people have other sites for arthritis, back issues, and bronchiectasis in which one can receive similar wonderful support, I would greatly appreciate it! I enjoyed so much reading about other support groups and getting to know people virtually. I will continue to browse but so far, the format is not very useful.
