Hot flashes years after menopause?

I am 80 years old and experiencing hot flashes as often as three or four times a week. I would like to talk to anyone who knows anything about this subject.

Hi Carapier,
I'm 79 and I still have hot flashes sometimes too. Mine aren't that often but they do show up every so often. I have no idea why they occur or what is causing them. I just drink some ice water and then they go away. I haven't mentioned them to my doctor. They weren't really bothering me that much but still they aren't fun. You would think that since I've been through with menopause for quite a few years the hot flashes would be gone also. I hope your hot flashes go away. Maybe your doctor can prescribe something for you.
Blessings,
PML

I'm 75 and I have started to get hot flashes the last year or so. I also get bad cold sweats every night. I haven't. Mentioned this to my Dr. either.

I’m 50 and started getting hot flashes, as well. Started following Dr.Axe and he suggested lots of vitamins. You can watch him on utube he talks a lot about menopause.

Occasional hot flashes are not unusual, but persistent ones can be a sign of other issues or can be a reaction to medications. Night sweats can be an indicator of an ongoing health issue, or the worsening of a chronic condition, some common ones are thyroid problems and low blood sugar. Please consider mentioning this to your doctor in your next visit.

I started menopause at age 57. I had extreme night sweats ( I would have to change my nightwear in the middle of the night) and during the day, if I exerted myself even slightly , sweat would pour down from my head to my chest. I am 80 now and and I still sweat just not as bad. My bedclothes are always very damp when I wake but I don’t have to change them. I have told all the doctors through the years but they say it could be from meds. I have taken an antidepressant for 40 years (Lexipro) wouldn’t my body adjust to it by now. Anyone have this problem. Also at age 75 I have been fighting Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (3 Lumpectomies and recently a mastectomy will be having radiation soon.
