What helped me with hot flashes: What helped you?
Just thought this might be useful to people out there who have been hot flashing countless times a day like I was. My oncologist gave me oxybutynin 5 mg to take twice a day to help with the hot flashes from the Lupron injections. Got to tell you, it really has helped.

I live in San Francisco where the average year around temperature is probably 65 or less. Low humidity as well. When it hits 70+ it’s unusual.
Mark Twain is noted for saying. Coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco. Our summers are always Filled with overcast days. Doesn’t get warm here until late September and then we may only get three or four warm days. Had a few years where it got hot in February, weird weather.
My hot flashes were pretty constant and pretty severe for over a year before I found a drug to stop them (depo-provera). The weather may help, but it’s not just the heat and the humidity that does it.
Writing this as I get a hot flash, it’s 67 in the house. This one is relatively mild fortunately, my Wave device is charging still.
I to have many hot flashes throughout the day ,and the flashes wake me up when sleeping. I was curious if anyone has tried a low dosage of Megestrol . I have a close friend also on Orgovyx was prescribe the drug and he said he no longer experiences hot flashes. I am just cautious to introduce another drug into my body, the link below is something I found on the net if anyone is interested.

Figured I'm on plenty of prescriptions drugs so I went the natural route, https://a.co/d/bYybfmf, a Makita fan! I have a number of Makita tools so this was an easy decision. It's quiet, portable and gets the job done. Wish I had purchased it earlier in the summer.
Gabapentin did little for me too. I live in the Phoenix area and have been on Orgovyx since January. Referencing the heat: I noticed during the Winter, I had hot flashes, but, not severe. During the summer here in Phoenix, the hot flashes were special. Now that the temperature has started to cool off; my hot flashes are fewer and not as bad. So, yes ... I believe warm/hot temps affect the hot flashes.
I have used this fan for a couple of years. It can clip onto a table or many other things or you could just sit it flat.
Cost about 25% of what your fan costs. Is variable speed and pretty quiet.
Of course it runs on a battery and surprises me how infrequently it needs to be charged.
Hot flashes since Day 1 on Eligard shots I get every 3 months. Cannot sleep well, hot flashes that drip down my face, head and neck. Oncologist has noted the shot is required for a total of 2 years. What about alternatives aside from yet another drug for the hot flashes? Black Cohosh? Are there other alternatives to the Eligard? Radiation was completed back in April 2024. My markers were higher than the doc wanted and therefore needed to have the hormone therapy.
Since the hormone therapy started, I developed severe carpal tunnel in both wrists that was never a hint of an issue. One surgery down, another to go on the other wrist. I understand to fight one evil, another is a potential, however, its on me for the cost both financially and physically.
If there is another option, I would consider it.
Fans are crucial to helping hot flashes at night. I have one. Turn it off, turn it on, right by the bedside.
The EMBR Wave night mode stopped all my night hot flashes. I used to wake up with the sheet soaked under me.
