Hot, burning, tingling painful r foot due to sciatica l3-S1 nerve comp
Hello Mayo Clinic I have moderate to severe hot, burning, tingling, painful r foot due to sciatica with l3-S1 nerve compression. 7-8 on the pain scale currently. It keeps me from going to sleep and staying asleep. It been an issue for 15 years due to lifting a water cooler bottle.
I would like to know what actually works.
I use ice to numb it so can go to sleep but will wake up due to it hurting again.
Also take 1500mg of gabapentin in divided doses, ultram 50mg prn, back injections, lidocaine patches, Zoloft, Motrin , Tylenol and bengay. Had ablation twice. Please share what has been proven to work.

Hello Katie @katieg0831, Welcome to Connect. I know that the sciatica pain can be just awful. I have a friend that was dealing with sciatica pain like you mentioned but he was fortunate that surgery corrected the issue for him. There are a couple of related discussions that you might find helpful while you wait for other members with experience to respond.

You mentioned about having a nerve ablation twice. Did they provide any relief?

1 ReactionI experienced similar symptoms for a number of years along with a numb left foot.
I assume you have a MRI to indicate l3-S1 nerve compression.
It sounds like your tried everything.
The only thing that worked for me was to reduce inflammation in the back as much as possible.
Maybe surgery is needed.
Sorry to hear this, I can relate.
