What holistic relief works on sciatic nerve pain?
I have been suffering from sciatica nerve pain that goes down my left buttock, leg, and foot. I do not tolerate medications well. A spinal injection further damaged my spine, and it is still burning, seven years later. Has anyone found something that helps with this severe pain??

I had a sciatica attack that was so bad my husband took me to the ER by ambulance. So I feel your pain. Of all things they gave me Valium as a relaxant. It worked well. Still had some pain but much improved. They sent me home with a short course of another relaxant....starts with an f...and had me get the strongest over the counter lidocaine patches to use 12 hours on and 12 off. I am better now. The nerves have to calm from the inflammation. I used a heating pad also.

5 ReactionsAlthough I was skeptical to begin, Acupuncture has saved me. I went from crying in pain, last Fall, quickly shifted to bearable pain after only 2 treatments, and now I am pain free.

Did you learn this on your own thru videos, the book, or going to classes? And do you know why you had the sciatica? I have L4/5 S1 compressed nerves.

1 ReactionI started with the book and then did a daylong group training class. Subsequently I’ve also done “glidewalking” classes in person and online. I prefer the in person classes.

1 Reaction@gravity3 I need to get out my heating pad because it really did help. A hot shower helps, too. I have also used 4% lidocaine patches, and they do help, but they have gone up in price. This sciatica runs 24/7. It is much worse in cold weather, which includes rainy or snowy weather. Has pain affected you this way? I am so glad that you are feeling better!
@srquser WOW!! After only two treatments of acupuncture, you are now pain-free? Does your insurance cover acupuncture? Medicare does not cover that procedure.
@sbcarcht I have spinal stenosis, too, at L5-S-1 and it is degenerative. I try to walk as often and as far as I can, on a weekly basis. It helps to get outside and enjoy nature again. Now we are back indoors because of cold, snowy weather after being 89 degrees yesterday. We need spring which will help with this severe pain.
