Holep surgery

Posted by colin54 @colin54, 1 day ago

I am four weeks after Holep Surgery generally going very well. However, I get a lot of periodic leakage and urine incontinence and I’m wearing a pad that experience periodic pain in the bladder area but the urologist has checked me over thoroughly. He reckons it’s my IBS. He has discharged me but I know I can easily get back in touch. Should I have a problem. I’m trying to do the Kegel exercises as much as possible. I’m also trying to get fit again but keep getting worried at the risk of overdoing the exercise. The consultant has said I can walk on the flat but it’s very hilly where I live and I keep doing little hills, and then getting worried I’ve ever done it grateful for any support from you guys out there. Best wishes, Colin.

I had HOLEP in early Dec 2024. Leakage/incontinence was terrible. I was going through 6 to. 7 diapers per day. I was doing my Kegel exercises everyday until my incontinence got controllable. That was 6 months of kegels. I was seeing a PT for the first 2 months to ensure I was exercising correctly. I also walked 5 days a week. I have some hills here also, but it didn’t bother me. When I got to the 7 month post HOLEP my control really got better. I now only wear liners for my underwear. Just 1 liner will last the entire day. I followed Michelle Kenway’s (https://youtu.be/c0aDJrSiR1A?si=6v75UqID_mNjQIbR) procedures and the incontinence turned the corner. I can finally go out and enjoy myself all day without having to change my diaper. Don’t give up. I felt the same way not seeing any improvements, but my doctor told me to keep pushing. It worked.

I´m almost 120 days from my HOLEP surgery. Still feeling burning sensation when peeing, waking up 4 times at night to pee. No UTIs, drinking lots of water, not eating spicy or acidic foods. I really don´t know when I will experience some relief of these symptoms. Chat GPT said that one can expect 6 months to heal completely, but it´s very stressful to wake up all night long.

I went through the first few months getting up 3 to 4 times during the night. Now I only get up 2 times. Some nights I can sleep over 4 hours without getting up to relieve myself. I too was trying to rush the healing by doing lots of kegels and watching was I was eating and drinking. Just give it some time and you will eventually overcome the incontinence and urges to empty your bladder. It took me nearly 7 months before I returned to close to normal.
