Hip Tendinopathy
Have been diagnosed with a degenerative tendon and have 2 PRP injections with limited improvement. Wondering what additional treatments might be effective

Thank you for the guidance. I plan to reach out to the orthopedic practice in that direction. Also a good reminder to be patient in the healing process.

1 ReactionI wanted to hear from someone on HRT to see if tendon pain lessened. On PRP, it makes sense it needs to be injected where the tendon that needs help is located but boy, I have it all around hips and Glutes. There really needs to be more studies on this as it seems to happen to women most of the time and no doctor seems to know, so they suggest injections which is a bandaid.
A month in physio isn't long. I'd give it a little more time, Sarah, 2 more months. Then if it's not better, see an ortho guy.

1 ReactionIt is a slow process to heal! I set myself back July 4th weekend when I climbed in and out multiple times into our son in law’s big pick up truck. It was a dumb thing to do. The pain after that weekend was surprising! Like I said…so dumb!
I initially went to a couple of orthopedic surgeons, who correctly diagnosed the tendenopathy but offered little more than a referral to PT. When it became clear that PT wasn’t going to be the cure I sought out a specialist in sports medicine at a teaching hospital. They haven’t provided a magic cure, but we are trying PRP injections nd there has been some improvement. As others have pointed out, it’s a painfully slow healing.

1 ReactionI will ask about sports medicine physicians and I am learning that I am still, sadly, in the early stages of recovery. I have not heard about PRP injections but I will spend some time learning, in case it is something I need, at some point.
We all do that stuff. I did something similar after my second THR. Self-inflicted!
I have had two Laminectomies and continue to experience pain in back and legs. I go to the pain clinic for injections which give only temporary relief. I have osteoporosis and three spontaneous vertebral fractures. I go to physical therapy to help strengthen my leg and core muscles. I’m interested to know what else would be available to help me walk without pain outside of major surgery. Any procedure other than injections? Thank you.
Now I am doing my best to take it slow.

1 ReactionYou really need an MRI to see the possible issues. That is where I went from bursitis to Gluteal Tendinopathy diagnosis. My inflammation markers go up and down and never consistent.
