Hip pain from back?
I have been having hip pain. A few weeks ago my husband and I had been in Disney Springs and walked about 5 miles. After I was in real bad pain in my left hip. I decided to call an Orthopedic doctor. I went to a group someone suggested. They did an x-ray and the doctor said there is nothing wrong with your kip. It's your back. He gave me a script for PT (which I haven't gone yet due to time). How would he know it's not my hip from just an x ray and not an MRI? And what would be wrong with my back? I do feel some pain in my back kind of all over at times. The doctor was very dismissive and didn't seem to care and didn't answer any questions.
I am in my mid 50's and workout at the gym 4-6 times a week. I am a little overweight so I am trying on losing some weight.
Anyone have any input?

Thanks! Yes getting to a PT first before I see a spine Dr.
the dismissive part bugs me with my dr too. he hadn't looked at my X-ray, so I waited. 15 min later, I am ushered out. he recommended cortisone shots. it's months later he had gone out of the country. I a on a walker and feel hopeless. looking into hrt (hormones) was referred to a dr who was a pa and wasted time and money doing that.
Melissa123, your questions are perfect. You might get an MRI of the low back from your general practitioner and get the doctors notes from your appointment with the orthopedic surgeon. We can assume the orthopedist thinks the pain is muscular because of your PT referral.
Physical Therapy will help your body even if it doesn't address the hip issue, so I'd go, but prioritize the MRI.
Ozempic can cause muscle and joint pain as well as muscle and bone loss.
It is time for a DXA by the by.
The hip joint and the si joint can cause pain in the same areas. I suspect your SI, and suggest chiropractic care. When I wait too long for an adjustment I get pain just over the hip joint. If you pain is higher up over the pelvic crest you'd want a MR imaging to know if it disc or vertebra. The disney walk is all pavement (If I remember). Pavement is a little harder on the joints.
