Hip pain and steroid injection

I had two types in hip injections depending on where the pain was and the cause. One on the side of the hip near the trochanter for bursitis. One that was into the hip capsule (through the groin area) guided by fluoroscopy for osteoarthritis.

Both hips replaced and revised (EDS) and still have pain and strength issues . Shots help but only for a few days then no difference after three weeks. MSM and Naproxen help.

I was getting steroid shots in my hips for osteoarthritis but after PT and shots for 10mo I stoped both because for me it worked for the first few shots then the first few days then not at all it made my pain worse now my pain has gotten better now that i stopped the shots and in the winter I just have to live with that pain no more of those shots for me
They made my pain worse in the long run not worth it

Yes. The SI joint injections help me to keep moving but it takes a skilled doctor to do it. Every 4 months along with daily self discipline “pain management “

I had the injection you mentioned and it lasted 2 months. If your hip arthritis is mild to moderate and it's not a good time to replace the hip, the shot helps.

Three weeks ago, I received a steroid injection in my groin for hip pain it has not even taken affect. They just put me on a seven day dose pack of steroids and I’m still in a great deal of pain. I understand that I do have to wait three months for surgery because of that steroid injection. What if you can’t wait three months? I know the risk of infection having a steroid injection is very high what are the other alternatives? Anybody know I’m putting a call into my ortho doctor this am. Thank you

I have had the hip injection in both hips pain is tolerable but got an allergic reaction after the second shot. It's been over a month. The itching is driving me crazy. Has anyone else had this reaction?
