High Risk HPV

Posted by hummingbird673 @hummingbird673, 1 day ago

One year ago, I tested positive for High Risk HPV. I am 65 years old. First time I had an abnormal Pap Test. Biopsy said same as Pap. I didn't have the 2 that have high percentage of causing cervical cancer.
I have had 1 partner for 46 years. It is like a cloud over my head. Dec. 3rd I will be retested. What do you need to do about this test result?

I know this must be difficult for you but I have read that HPV is highly contagious and can be easily transmitted, even if not through sexual contact. There is a chance to transfer hand to genitals. Please don’t let this damage your amazing 46 year relationship. Have open, candid conversations, share your feelings, don’t keep them bottled up and seek counseling, if needed, to work through this successfully with your partner.

Read this good information posted on Cleveland Clinic about HPV. I, too, was exposed to HPV when I was younger (not sure how) and had precancerous cells and abnormal paps but it had cleared on its own and I need to monitor via Pap smears going forward.
