High pain tolerance

Posted by tj @tjanet, Sep 6 3:23pm

I have constant deep inside upper left abdominal pain for over 4 months. Doctors still don't know how to treat my constant abdominal pain because I have a high tolerance to pain. I look fine on the outside but my abdomen and the inside of my body isn't good. In 2019 I had a small bowel obstruction and had a couple surgeries. I now have 2ft of my small intestines left and I have all of my large intestines. I am able to eat food. I do LR IV fluids 5 times a week to help with dehydration but no other treatment for my Short Bowel Syndrome condition/symptoms.
Constant abdominal pain not related to food, gas, bloating or indigestion. Abdominal pain doesn't change with bowel movements. Moving around/walking doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. Resting doesn't change my constant abdominal pain. Stretching abdominal exercises don't help my constant abdominal pain. My pain level is at a constant 6 out of a 10 even with a high pain tolerance level.

Doctors still don't want to treat my constant upper left abdominal pain. Doctors don't seem to care that I suffer all the time with upper left abdominal pain. My PCP and my GI doctor are not helping me with my health issues.

Have you had any testing at all recently on this? Could it be surgery scar tissue?I would ask my PCP for an alternative referral to another GI doctor or another internal medicine surgeon or doctor.

I have had several tests. CT enterography, MRI enterography, small bowel follow through. Some of the tests come back abnormal but doctors still won't treat my constant abdominal pain.
My constant upper abdominal pain are not the symptoms of scar tissue. My abdominal pain doesn't change with body movements or food. My pain isn't a pulling or tugging feeling.

@tjanet I see....the only thing I might do in the situation is list the type of parameters that best describes the pain, location, type, constant or intermittent on a search engine and see what comes up.

I have been writing everything down. But my constant abdominal pain isn't from food,no bloating, no gas, doesn't change with body movements and doesn't change with bowel movements. Can't find anything that helps except to lay down on my left side with my legs bent to my chest, then my pain goes from a 6 to around a 4. I am not taking anything for the constant abdominal pain.

@tjanet I think if you hang in there you will get somewhere and the alternative is not great. When I research it is like peeling an onion, any question is followed by another, but I do learn.

I have been hanging on for over 5 years. Doctors don't understand my health conditions where I live and my family members don't think that I need to see a specialist. I know that my constant abdominal pain is because of my Short Bowel Syndrome condition not being treated.
