High Luteinizing Hormone, Normal Testosterone after ADT

Posted by jbuuck @jonbuuck, Feb 22, 2022

A year ago was my last Lupron/Eligard shot after 24 months. Three months ago I had my testosterone level checked, which had come back to a normal level. About the same time, my breast tissue began to increase and become sensitive. I now have elevated LH. Anyone else have this side effect, and what was the treatment? I am 60 years old.

Two years after taking Lupron my testosterone still remained very, very low, approximately fifteen, and I started taking AndroGel, a testosterone replacement, but after five weeks my brests started to enlarge so I stopped the Android gel. I have been told I should have had my breasts radiated before taking the testosterone replacement. Mayo developed a plan for me to now take AndroGel with Arimidex to prevent breast enlargement but Mayo does not have the manpower to implement the plan and the VA will not give me Arimidex because it says studies show it is not effective and I can find no endocrinologist or urologist who will Implement Mayo's plan. I do not want to take testosterone replacement without some breast enlargements preventative like Arimidex. I hope this is helpful to you.

Thank you. May you find someway to implement your plan. I'm waiting for more lab work to be completed and am working with an endocrinologist at Mayo on this issue.
