sorry you are having some much difficulties. Even with my hiatal hernia surgery I still get acid reflux which my surgeon says it is not. Whatever it feels like it and the only relief I get is with water and two Tylenol so far it works for me
Thanks very much for you reply. Pleased you have found something to give you relief. My colon is the problem now and my stomach isn't working properly. The GI I saw think the nerves have been damaged. Do you ever look up the Inspire Group. June

1 ReactionSorry that you were left with the acid issues. I've battled it for years, but have a good gastro doc. I tried to get off the meds, but we found that won't work for me, so I now take a lower dose than previously. My doc says that if I experience occasional reflux to use some tums, plus you get your calcium as well. This works pretty well. Plus I recently found an OTC product called Phazyme Gas & Acid. It's hard to find something that will work for both gas and acid, but this does and if you get the chewable tablets, pretty quickly. Be sure you're watching your high acid foods as well - it's hard as there are so many of them, such as some fruits! If you're a coffee, black tea, or soda drinker that's a big deal. Try red Robois (wrong spelling I'm sure) teas as they are caffeine free and limit soda intake. Those alone helped me a lot. Good luck, and don't give up!

1 ReactionThanks very much for your reply. No the doctors in Australia aren't interested in gastroparesis either. Quite a few of the tests for digestive issues aren't available in Australia which makes it difficult. Yes we get motilium (domperidone) over here. I stopped taking it as I was diagnosed with rapid gastric emptying but no one will listen. I did take them but my treatment has been one of total confusion but many people find them helpful. I wish I could smuggle them into America for you as I know there are a few people trying to get them.
what is the inspire group?
ladysky when I came to Maryland my IBS was out of control and was not even treated. When I finally could not tolerate the pains and bowl control I went to a gastroenterologist and he put me medication plus fiber and so far it is in control. Sometimes I think of weening off the medication but I feel since my IBS is under control why mess with it. I have missed days where I was not able to take the medication and nothing happened so I take my meds and move on
