I just found your post and was wondering if you had surgery? I am having the surgery because of iron deficiency. Wound live to hear about your experience.

Has anyone had Laparoscopic Paraesophageal Hernia surgery?

@wabbit9 I would get a second opinion from a gastroenterologist. I have a small hiatal hernia and I was told years ago that surgery can create more problems than I already have with this hernia.

Having said that, since you posted in August 2023 you may have had that surgery already … in which case I would be interested to know how it went.

Could you please update us?

Yes, I had my large hernia repaired in September, 23.
My symptoms ( squeezing pain during eating, atelectasis in my lung, triggered hot flashes)
All gone.
Post op was easier than I expected. Was able to eat soft foods in a week, and continued to improve.
Lots of gas was expelled for several weeks.
All in all a success.
