Hepatocellular Disease vs Hepatocellular Cancer
Hello friends. Does anyone know if Hepatocellular DISEASE is the same as Hepatocellular cancer? I tried googling and I keep getting referred to cancer. Thanks to all.

I don't think Hepatocellular has to be cancer. The word just means disease of the liver. I have Hepatocellular carcinoma cancer with cancerous liver lesions which is definitely a liver cancer. I've it for 2 1/2 years and its' well treated with the use of Y90 radiation embolization.

@rdunn358, I'd like to add my welcome along with @digibson. Hepatocellular refers to affecting liver cells called hepatocytes. Hepatocellular is most often used in association with cancer - hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Some liver diseases can increase the risk of getting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) or liver cancer.
Rdunn, did you see something in a recent report that has you concerned that you may have cancer?
@colleenyoung If ultrasound results states hepatocellular disease such as steatosis is suggested. I am assuming they are referring to Fatty Liver disease. Is this correct?
“Steatosis” is a term healthcare providers use to describe fat buildup in an organ (usually your liver). A healthy, high-functioning liver contains a small amount of fat. Fat buildup becomes a problem when it reaches over 5% of your liver's weight. Read more https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15831-fatty-liver-disease
@lclark918, have you had a chance to speak with your doctor yet about the results of your ultrasound? Do they suspect fatty liver disease?
I do have fatty liver but they have never said hepatocellular disease such as Steatosis. I was just worried with them using Hepatocellular. Thank you for clarifying.
I’m a little worried. I just had an abdominal ultrasound and it’s showing either Hepatocellular disease with a cyst on my liver and everytime I google i get carcinoma results. I’m not a heavy drinker nor have I ever been diagnosed with hepatitis. I’ve lost 25 pounds unintentionally and have nausea and vomiting and overall fatigue and this is the first time I’ve ever had an abdominal ultrasound and I am just really scared of speaking with my physician but I just don’t have enough information on what is going on. Can someone please clarify what the prognosis is on this condition???
Is heterogeneous echogenicity which can be seen with hepatocellular disease cancer
