H, hope you are feeling better…I had this surgery end of November 2024…. Due to a blockage likely caused by fistulyzing, I had urgent surgery, which was open.. it rakes time to heal and recover ….how can i help you ? I check this site often…

Hi, it sounds like you are doing pretty well, doing the diet, etc…I’m sorry I don’t know about the long term, like 2 years…but I do know that a good diet and regular exercise are both very important…for me, hydration has been a challenge, since my new digestive system is very thirsty- so I always gave water with me…I had to do everything very gradually, with patience…your body will tell you a lot if you listen…I hope this helps and wish you the very best !

I had a right hemicolectomy, laparoscopically, in May 2016 for stage 1 cancer. Surgery was curative, so no chemo or radiation. If not for the small scar around my navel, I would not know I had half my colon removed. I’ve had 5 colonoscopies since the surgery and everything always looks good. The anastomosis where the small intestines is connected to the large intestines is open with no constrictive or stenosis. I have a normal bowel movement every day.
I have a normal diet, but I am eating more fruits and vegetables to ensure adequate fiber. I eat yogurt 4 or 5 times a week and sauerkraut 2-3 times a week. I mostly eat sourdough bread.
I was told not to do any abdominal exercises for a year after the surgery that I had at age of 61. I am now a 70 year old woman who can leg press 270 lbs and chess press 65 lbs. I just returned from a 3 week trip to Europe where I walked over 100 miles including some mountainous hiking trails.
I have an annual exam by my surgeon to check for hernias and I’m always ok. My doctor said my abdominal muscles are strong.
God is good and my health has actually been better since the surgery. Losing the right side of your colon is actually better than losing the left side sigmoid colon or the rectum. You should have no worries.
Entonces vida normal?
