Help Needed
Hello head & neck cancer group! I personally went through head & neck cancer treatment summer of 2022 and have been in recovery ever since. This group has been incredibly helpful to me so I wanted to reach out on behalf of my aunt who has been diagnosed with inoperable head and neck cancer with tumors in her mouth, neck, and lymph system. Does anyone at the Mayo Clinic have any contacts at Fred Hutchinson cancer center in Seattle? She is feeling written off currently by her medical team, no treatment plan started yet. We are desperate to give her any opportunity to survive even it is a small chance. It’s worth it. Thank you for listening!

@chanderson, sorry to hear about your aunt. If she would like to get a second opinion at Mayo Clinic, she can start by calling them to see if a virtual review may be possible. Here are the contact information and the online form to self-refer http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Has your aunt had a discussion with her medical team to discuss possible treatment options, symptom management, etc. in the meantime? What are the suggested next steps?
Thank you @colleenyoung! We will definitely reach out for a second opinion when we reach a stable point. We were able to make progress this week starting radiation, chemo, and immunotherapy. If they can get the cancer to stabilize we’re hoping to look at some clinic trials. Wait & see. Thanks again!
Hi I dont know where you live but i have had great results at Emory Winship cancer center in Atlanta also the have proton radiation which is less damaging than traditional radiation hope that helps Jim
Thanks Jim, we’ve added this to our list!
