help for cough, chest tightness, fatigue, fever-feeling

Posted by elias93 @elias93, Nov 7, 2022

Hi all,

Curious if anyone has experience and advice with these symptoms post-covid, that last forever and come back in more intense bouts: deep chest cough, chest tightness, fatigue (naps daily), and fever-like feeling throughout head whenever I try to do much of anything. Can't work anymore or make plans with loved ones.

I also have selective IGA deficiency and celiac disease, but I dont think my symptoms can be explained by those diagnoses alone. I went off gluten a few months ago after diagnosis and no change in health. Thanks!

Hi all,

Curious if anyone has experience and advice with these symptoms? My infectious disease doc didnt have any ideas. Deep chest cough, chest tightness, fatigue, and fever-like feeling throughout head and torso whenever I try to do much of anything. Can't work anymore or make plans with loved ones.

I also have selective IGA deficiency, celiac disease, and covid 2x, but I dont think my symptoms can be explained by those diagnoses and covid alone. Thanks!

I was hospitalized with Covid pneumonia for a week in November 2021. I also experienced the chest tightness. Along with tightness on my left side-face, arm and leg. It took until September 2022 to finally feel better. I still experience it but not near what it was. I can go days without feeling the tightness now. When I do experience it-it is barely noticeable. My biggest problem is dizziness. I’ve tried physical therapy and seen many different doctors with no relief yet. Thankful I don’t have worse symptoms but it is very frustrating that I’m not back to myself yet. I’m 57 years old and had NO health issues before Covid.
Hoping you find relief soon!!

@elias93 I certainly don’t know a lot since I’m not a doctor. Have you seen a pulmonologist because of your cough?

Has your doctor considered Long Covid?

REPLY

Yes, I have had a dry cough for over a year that started after my second Covid bout. I also have chest pain on left side of my chest that could be costachrondritis . I had a lot of fatigue and sinus pressure but that’s better after my doctor gave me a strong antibiotic called clarithromycin which I took for 2 weeks since the zpac didn’t work. My cough is better as is the sinus problem but still have a weak cough. All very tiring.

You have the symptoms of walking pneumonia. Chest X-ray recently?
Also, the lingering effects of Covid.
Hope you get well soon.

A crazy but helpful tip I got during the worst of my cough was to use Vicks Vapor Rub on my throat and to put it on the soles of my feet, put on socks, before I went to bed. I believe it helped 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you had a CT chest?

REPLY

Had ct and x ray of chest, both normal with just some calcified nodules that docs said not to worry about.

Sorry to hear that. My pulmonologist didn’t find any lung damage so they ruled that out. How were you diagnosed and has there been any treatment that’s helpful?
