Help finding HRT over 10 years post menopause

Posted by mwallj @mwallj, Jun 5 1:48pm

Looking for any leads to find prescriber for HRT. My sister with Osteoporosis has been to 3 doctors and Midi and all refused. She is 64, 14 years post menopause. Many people have said Midi will do this, but they refused, saying they are required to follow the guidelines, which are no prescribing HRT more than 10 years post menopause. Location is Pittsburgh or Cleveland.

I take .05 transdermal patch twice a week and 100 mg progesterone every night. (never slept better). Endo did not prescribe because he thought hormones needed different followup care. so I went to a GYN. she saw no problem starting it.

@samclembeau Can I ask your age? It seems like many doctors don't want to prescribe hormones to anyone over 60-65. But not all of them.

@clain I started taking HRT at 76. I have been using for a year. No problems. Slight breast tenderness when I started for a few weeks or so. Now nothing.
