Heart Palpitations

Posted by mbryant1380 @mbryant1380, Sep 2 11:53am

I have been experiencing heart sensations; PVC’s, PAC’s and SVT’s l. They first started in September of 2021, I had Covid in February of that same year, I have had Covid twice since then (most recent in February of this year). The symptoms have been on and off since then, I have seen a cardiologist who did a pretty thorough work up. Heart monitors, stress tests, echocardiogram etc. The symptoms had seem to calm down last year but just this last month they came back really bad. Don’t know if I should bother going through having this looked into again. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Thank you in advance.

I totally understand how you feel because I’m going through the same thing. I had covid in 2022 and the symptoms started right away, I think it was the Omicron variant and was known to cause palpitations, sweating and tremors, I took it all in stride thinking it would stop when the infection was over but alas it didn’t. I could even hear my pulse at times and the sweating was profound, I did a lot of research but there wasn’t a lot of information to be found, I got more confirmation from being here online that I wasn’t alone. I also had a thorough heart checkup and they found nothing wrong with my heart other than it beats too fast. Sadly the cardiologist was not open to blaming it on covid and ultimately suggested I see a psychiatrist, what an insult to me and others who have gone through this. I am a stressed person and have been for years but it never caused palpitations or sweating, I find it all very frustrating and scary especially having an ailment that can’t be treated because beta blockers are the best remedy for rapid heart rates but those of us who have asthma can’t take them. I hope one day they will find ways to treat all the symptoms that covid leaves us with but until then we have to keep trying to get help from other people who have found ways to help them themselves, I hear about clinics that help you or a good doctor who will try to treat you. All I know is that for those who think that covid is just another virus like so many others, wake up and get smarter about protecting themselves because it’s much more insidious and dangerous.

Research is ongoing. Some of these symptoms are being studied. I have similar aftereffects. My longtime Cardiologist had done a thyroid test and sent me to an endocrinologist because Covid blew out my thyroid. My TCH was 0 output. Endocrinologist is treating me for thyroid disease of which I am in the early stages.

I was doing fine after Covid at first, but the med I was put on initially in the hospital blew out my thyroid. Sorry, with Covid brain I can't remember the name of the med. I hope they take it off the market.

Mbryant1380 - I had a mild case of Covid in Feb. ‘23. Took Paxlovid and it cleared up. Couple weeks later, I started developing shortness of breath and irregular heartbeat. Next few months, I had EKGs and Holter monitoring. They just showed occ. PVC & PAC. By May, I was so short of breath just walking to the bathroom. I went to ER and found I was in complete heart block. I had a pacemaker implanted the next day and over the course of the year had some complications. Today, I’m doing well if I watch my diet to prevent recurrence of congestive heart failure. Had reactivation of asthma but that’s another story. In short, if you keep experiencing symptoms, go back to your cardiologist or the ER. At the very least, they’ll do EKG and if normal, set your mind at ease a little. I have been reading more reports that Covid does indeed damage the heart. Best wishes to you.

Thank you all for sharing, I pray we all find some resolve sooner than later. I will go back to my Cardiologist and have it looked into again, like @britelite said, if anything put my worries at ease or if something is wrong get intervention/treatment.
Wishing you all better health!

I had a bad case of Covid in November, 2023 and starting in January of 2024 I began having PVC's, PAC's on a regular, every day, every other heartbeat. I didn't feel bad other than anxious because of the heartbeat issue. I was already on a low dose of beta blocker (metroprolol .25) for occasional PVC and anxiety. The metroprolol was increased but no improvement. I have "bigeminy or trigeminy" all the time, 24/7. Just recently, August 2024, I have had a few days of regular heartbeat readings. I never take ibuprofen, ever, but was in pain due to knee injury so took 100 ml. I had normal sinus for that day. COVID causes inflammation. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. Not sure where I will go with this because I never felt that any ibuprofen was safe in the long run.

I had arrhythmias post Covid. My cardiologist increased my Diltiazem. Now I just have tachycardia and lightheadedness but no PVCs or a fib or Vtach.

I had very early Covid, then ET, A type of blood cancer, then became short of breath and dizzy when standing.
My cardiologist tested my pressure and it increased 30 points from sitting to standing. Normally it should not change more than 15 points. My heart also races even when I’m watching tv and not moving.
My doc diagnosed it as POTS and said I didn’t need a table tilt test.
He ordered a pill I’ve been taking, but after 2 weeks it hasn’t started working yet. I have a 3 mo appt and I’ll report back!

I suggest having a pulse ox and blood pressure cuff to test yourself.
