Headaches

72 high risk w 2 lesions. Biopsy confirmed. Retired health professional. Sought out the best center of excellence closest with a strong brachytherapy program. Consulted associates at UCSF who recommended Dr. Showalter at UVA. He was great. I was “borderline” they agreed to do HDR brachytherapy. F/U with 20 sessions of EBRT boost. Almost done. Also with QOL concerns and 5% increase in survival rates, I did not have ADT. Each doctor was supportive of MY decision. Please be your own advocate. Medicine is a great profession , and doctors like to get paid. Urologists want to do prostatectomies. I would recommend a good prostate specific radiation oncologist and search out a COE.

So my question: I was having headaches and white noise before cancer treatments . I saw an ENT to unblock a right sinus, tooth pulled and root canal. MRI of brain, neurologist found nothing. Possibly pulsatile tinnitus, google it. Since brachytherapy and EBRT the headaches have increased. Anybody with same symptoms? Thanks

I have had tinnitus for nearly 50 yrs thanks to loud gun blast near my head on hunting trip yr ago. I have found with my allergies and other situations cause the tinnitus to ring loud at times and then at times I barely notice ( gotten used to it). However, I wish it would completely go away- been to many ENT docs..some wanted me to wear a hearing aid..etc..( I can hear fine if people speak up- my neighbor -former pilot- wears hearing aids and wants me to get some at Costco- he speaks softly while driving to irritate me and make me think I am deaf like he is-I am not)

I do not have headaches and I did have 45 IMRT last fall.....and manage fine if there isnt alot of background noise..I do have prostate cancer altho my PSA has been undetectable for nearly 1 yr..still I find some dont want to be around me because I did mention I had PC..I find many people are disappointing with age...cruel unrelenting assholes...I think that is why many prefer dogs and cats inour old age- they are nicer than people..no agendas..just love.

Maybe that answered your question, maybe not..I forgot to add I ramble a bit at times ! ;=) I hope your headaches resolve..radiation is a bit tricky-it can exacerbate existing conditions..as can ADT.

Thanks for your comments. I’m happy that your PC is under control. I feel that mine will also have a good outcome. My concern if increased headaches are related side effects of EBRT. It’s certainly not fun. Take care

I was on Lupron during my 39 EBRT treatments, hot flashes were unbearable, they gave me Venlafaxine to control. I already had tinnitus from my time as a ground crew chief on FB-111Bs in the late 70s.

Been living with the loudest highest pitch tinnitus the VA Docs have diagnosed for 6 years. Just another PCa shitshow

cbball, did you start any new medications with your radiation treatments?

In particular, Tadalafil is commonly prescribed to help with radiation-induced erectile dysfunction. A common side effect is headaches.

Good call. I was on sildenifil before and switched to tadalafil to see if that might help the retention. I’ll check the PDR to see if viagra has the same issue as tadalafil.
Thanks
