Has Anyone Tried The McKenzie Method?

Posted by marcd2k @marcd2k, 2 days ago

Good morning / afternoon, everyone,

I received some good news from a second spine surgeon I just saw this past week. He reviewed all of my imaging, read the reports, and gave me a quick exam. He told me I do not need another surgery (phew!), and he actually said, "Even if you wanted me to, I wouldn't operate", which was some nice candor to hear from a top surgeon.

He gave me a book on The McKenzie Method (there are several books, this one specifically for back issues), and referred me to another Physical Therapist he works with.

Has anyone tried this method? If so, did it work or not? What suggestions would you have for someone just starting to use this method?

Thank you,
Marc

@bswpb Thank you for replying. I had only heard of the method from my wife finding it when she had a back issue, so I wanted to ask a diverse community their opinion. I'm in three of the groups with Mayo, and there seems to be a pattern similar to what I have already seen here in the other groups as far as percentages of successful surgeries.

@heisenberg34 You're welcome. The more we communicate, the more we will find out about our condition(s). Have a great weekend,

Marc
