Has Anyone Resolved Secondary Hyperparathyroidism with Magnesium Suppl
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 46, and my doctors initially thought it was due to longstanding low vitamin D, diet, and genetics. I also had mildly elevated PTH (parathyroid hormone), which one endocrinologist thought might be due to my body losing too much calcium in the urine — even though I was already on hydrochlorothiazide.
What’s been surprising is that my PTH recently normalized for the first time in years after I started consistent magnesium supplementation (225 mg elemental daily), and my urine calcium also dropped significantly. No one ever mentioned magnesium as a factor before, and I’m wondering…
Has anyone here had a similar experience — where magnesium helped resolve mild secondary hyperparathyroidism or lowered urine calcium?
