Has anyone had surgery for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma?
In my case, the tumor has decreased to 2cm x 3cm. Anyone who has had surgery for this would love to hear as I’m meeting with surgeon oncologist June 11. TIA.

I had surgery for this and it was very successful. It was done robboticaly and recovery went well. I think the extent of surgery depends on the tumor location in the liver. Mine was in a place easily resected. If surgery is indicated for you, I would not hesitate to do it.
My surgery was at Mayo in Rochester, and I highly recommend them.
Best wishes to you,

Mhallmark -had 3cm went to 5cm had liver resection in Pittsburgh PA liver transplant center Sept 2024 -started capecitabine Oct-Dec 3900mg/day first dose 14 days on and 7 off terrible side effects lowered to 3000mg/day did for 2 months terrible side effects then never took chemo but bloodwork and scans show no signs now - I am stage 1A so good luck and keep me posted
So good to hear you no longer have signs of the tumor! Thank you so much and I will!
Thanks so much Denver girl, mine is in the bile duct. I’m in Texas and currently seeing physicians at UTSW. They have a team that specializes in ICC. I’ve had 16 treatments of chemo and 8 immunotherapy treatments and continue on the latter now for the near future. I’ll know more soon and so appreciate your encouraging words. I’m so happy hear of the success of your surgery too 😊
Hi MHallmark,
Please look for my response that I posted on 5/8/25 regarding my husband who had surgery last June 24, 2024 at Mayo. Wonderful experience. He is cancer free now. However, due to HCC cancer which has a high recurrence, he goes every 3 months for an MRI, CT Scan, blood work and appointments with PA from oncology department. Last checkup on 4/23/25, still cancer free.
I highly recommend Mayo. Wonderful team of surgeons, PA’s, nurses, and everyone else that works at Mayo.
Good luck,
Mine was in a bile duct within the liver.
