Has anyone had success in stopping or reversing degener disk disease?

Posted by adladow @adladow, Aug 28, 2023

I'm at the point in my life where I'm starting to get scared for my health. Mainly my spine health. I'm 47 and was extremely active into my late 20s. LOTS of sports. I miss doing those things so much. I've had a c5-6 fusion, t11-12 cord compression issues and surgery, and last year temporarily lost the ability to walk and needed surgery at L5-S1. I recently found out I need my T11-T12 surgery redone for compression myelopathy. I'm honestly scared and that is saying a lot about me! My mother is basically homebound due to this condition and I just can't live my life like that. I need answers and an MD up for the challenge. If anyone in the world can do it, its Mayo!

Any time something sounds “ too good…” it usually is.
There are so many companies out there who take advantage of people in pain…$$$ 🤬
Health insurance will pay for providers that your doctor sends you to. Age and other conditions have caused my spine to lose the “spacers” between my vertebrae. I’ve had surgeries and take a lot of supplements recommended by my doctors, but that is all that is out-of-pocket. They can be purchased at pharmacies or Amazon. But the most important part is daily body movement to elongate your spine plus physical therapy which insurance companies pay for. I have nerve damage and pain management is all day, everyday…

Thank you Jennifer. My doctor also mentioned stem cell treatments when they are past the experimental phase…it’s not proven yet for the long term.
The Barnes method of myofascia release has been around for 30 years and it’s about $125 a session my physical therapist is trained in this. It’s helping!🙏

Well - I typically shy away from controversial interactions on-line...but I can't help myself. Go to a neurosurgeon at a top hospital and stop subjecting yourself to whatever manipulations and under-educated diagnoses you're getting from a chiropractor. I would RUN away from a "doctor" whose main selling point is that he has a special discount available!!! The very fact this hocus pocus medicine is not covered by any sort of insurance may be an indicator of the treatment's efficacy. And I said neurosurgeon and not orthopedic surgeon.

@wendyhobbie Myofascial release has helped me a lot. I've been doing it for at least 12 years and I even do this type of stretching at home on a regular basis. I'm glad you find it to be beneficial!

Have you or anyone else heard of Disc Centers of America. We went to one last December. The chiropractor didn't like the MRI that my local hospital took, so he sent me for a CT scan. (I can't have an MRI due to an adapter on my replaced spinal cord stimulator). He showed us my CT scan and pointed out all kinds of disc problems...bulging, herniated, and whatever else was wrong. None of this was ever revealed on any MRI. He really gave orthopedic surgeons a walloping. He told us with his "special" spinal decompression machine along with certain supplements, that he could have me back to be totally or almost pain free. But, treatments were not covered by medicare. All out of pocket. 30 treatment plus supplements were normally $9600, but the special price was $6900. All up front (payments could be made through a finance company that he was affiliated with,
So, again, anyone out there have any experience with this outfit? I opted out because, as it is often said, "If it sounds too good to be true, ...".

I am sorry you had your hopes up but I think you are right, if it sounds too good to be true it is. People like this give other doctors a bad name he probably could not become an orthopedic surgeon and I have to say a lot of these chiropractors give doctors a bad name. We have a place like that in my town, SCOLICARE, another place to stay away from . The chiropractor in that place insults all of the orthopedic and neurosurgeons in town and says that they don’t know what they’re doing..
I’m glad you saw the writing on the wall. I wish you luck in your pain, relief struggle…

Good to know that I’m not the only one who has run into this kind of scheme.
They have quite a few good reviews. Probably from paid reviewers.
Thanks for your response.

How do you guys find doctors that are willing to work with you and do procedures or guide you on how to fix your problem? I have been to multiple chiropractors that say my neck is destroyed. It was not prior to my Covid vaccine two years ago. I cannot be upright hardly at all without severe pressure in my brain and neck and shoulders. The chiropractor say that I have CCI. But the neurosurgeons in spine doctors I’ll say that my neck is fine. I can’t keep my shoulders down. They are constantly and tension state, my head shakes when I try to move it. I can no longer work or entertain my family or friends. I can’t even spend time with my grandkids hardly because I can’t do anything. All I do is sit in my house and cry, and I know that’s not helping but I feel like my life is over. The pain and pressure are so severe but I was instructed by my last doctor that I’m not allowed to say those 2P words anymore and I need to get a more positive outlook. I have to hold my head with my hand, but she said I’m not to do that anymore because that’s not necessary. It is necessary otherwise my head shakes . I feel hopeless because I have been to five or six spine and Nuro doctors and surgeons and they all have said I’m fine. The only ones that say I have a major problem are the chiropractors and stem cell doctors that do not take insurance and my family does not believe they are true because of all the main doctor saying that I’m fine. I also have Lyme disease , but some doctors say my Lyme is not active so it’s not that causing my issues. I have been sick since one hour after my Covid vaccine but since January of this year this neck and head stuff is unbearable and it feels like it’s debilitating me.

You might be a covid long hauler. After I had covid and recovered. I had terrible migrains, facial numbness and a really tense neck. I was miserable for 3 or 4 months. It might be something to look into. But whatever you do. Stop seeing that chiropractor. They will only make things worse. Not to mention, they are not real medical practitioners. Snake oil salesmen.

Thank you!!! Did you get diagnosed with cci? I’m trying to figure out if I need a special physical therapist but this is so hard. I’m in so much pain and miserable.

Yeah. It was on my MRI results. It's the second time in the same spot. That's what worries me.
