Has anyone had a vaginal cuff tear?
I had endometriosis and ended up getting a hysterectomy. They left my ovaries in and it was the best thing that ever happened to me! Fast forward 30 years and boom I start feeling like I had been impaled and was bleeding from my vagina. My G.P. did a vaginal exam and told me that my vagina was very badly atropied and figured out that my vaginal cuff had torn open.
I am terrified and am waiting for an emergency appt to a gynecologist!
I hope someone here can talk to me and tell me what to expect.

@mackaymouse, I get that you are scared - terrified to use your word. @sharibano posted a similar situation here:

A vaginal cuff tear can occur any time after a total or radical hysterectomy, even years after the procedure has taken place, especially in women who are postmenopausal.
It's always scary to hear when your GP recommends getting an emergency appointment with a specialist. But this is good that you will be seen quickly. They may recommend surgery to repair the vaginal cuff.
Do you have an appointment with the gynecologist?
Not yet, I've been waiting to hear from the Gynecologist. My G.P. has been doing as much as she can. She has already ordered 2 ultrasounds, 1 lower abdomen, 1 vaginal. We are waiting to get the results. The ultrasound technician left the wand in and went to get a college and that is never a good thing.
I am terrified of being put under a general anesthetic, I am on Lyrica , methotrexate, tramadol and saw the FDA warning in regards to Lyrica and analgesics. I just need someone that has gone through this to talk to and I will reach out to the subject you reccomended. Thankyou for answering so fast.
The Gynecologists office phoned late last night. I have an appt today!
I'm doing everything to stay calm. Praying, deep breathing and joking around with friends.
Thankyou!
@mackaymouse Good news that you will be seen today. I'm saying healing prayers for you. Will you please come back here and let me know what happens at your appointment?
The blood was coming from an area that was small enough that the Gynecologist was able to cauterize it. She did find a lump in the vaginal area and took a biopsy. She said she would phone me immediately when the results came back. She has also requested the results from the ultra sound. She also prescribed a topical hormone cream to help the vaginal area to heal. God I'm so relieved! Thankyou so much for being there for me. Your words really helped me calm down.
@mackaymouse Thank you for sharing the outcome. This is all sounds very promising and in your position I would also be greatly relieved. The gynecologist you saw sounds very kind and reassuring. I'm praying that the biopsy will be negative.
If you are in the U.S. and celebrating Thanksgiving today I hope you will enjoy this day.
Hi how are you today? Im having a similar issue 24 days post op. I have already had 2 ER visits and seen my obgyn twice as well. Cant resolve the issue of the bleeding. Its moderate/heavy bleeding. They put monsel solution but I still bled the next day. Went to the ER again and was cauterized. They dont even know if that was they issue but did it. Thats what blows my mind when they cant give me 100% answer. The bleeding did stop but it always does and then starts again. Im so traumatized. Did you ever stopped fearing the cuff tear? Cuz to me im like ok the bleeding is something that happens to minority. And if that happened then anything can. Im losing it I swear
Hi Hun
I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. I had surgery to stop the bleeding on Apr 2nd. The doc had to cut out the mesh that was protruding through my vaginal wall and urethra. Pathology came back with 3 infections and I will be on antibiotics for 6 months. Antibiotics do not work if the infection is in the mesh. All the mesh has to be removed. I am waiting for a referral to a specialty trained doctor to get it removed. 2 surgeries when I should have only have had 1. Keep fighting, you are not alone.
Ask you doctor to request a vaginal ultrasound.
