Has anyone experienced sudden hearing loss diagnosed as APS?
Four years ago, I lots 70% hearing in one ear overnight and six months later again 70% overnight in the second ear. A quite rare auto immune disease Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) was diagnosed as the cause. It causes blood clots in small veins -- the eye, and in this case the ears. I have yet to find anyone else with the same diagnosis. The hearing loss is permanent due to damage to the inner ear. It is reverse slope hearing loss (RSHL) which is also relatively rare. The loss is worse in the lower frequencies. I look forward hopefully to a reply!
