Has anyone experienced red rash on face after starting Evenity?

Posted by lab54 @lab54, Aug 19, 2023

I just started Evenity 4 weeks ago. On week three, I noticed red breakouts or rash on my face. My face never breaks out. It’s always been free from acne or rashes. I’m not saying it’s the Evenity but it’s the only new drug I’ve started. Has anyone ever had any rash or noticeable changes on your face with Evenity or other Osteoporosis medications? Please reach out too me if you have. It could be totally unrelated. Yesterday was my second round of Evenity & except for sore arms & a rash on my face I’m doing okay so far. Thanks for letting me vent my concerns.

I developed an eczema type rash on my scalp - just a few bumps- but eventually it was around behind my ears & neck by month 8. I stopped Evenity at that point due to that & other side effects.
It went away after a few weeks & never returned or had any prior to Evenity.
I have a few itchy spots on my scalp now after having Reclast 9 months ago. Think it’s related as never had eczema before.

Thanks for telling me about your experience with Evenity. I have an appointment with a Dermatologist to hopefully shed light on what & why my face is red rashly looking. It looks a lot like a bad breakout from Roscea. Since on Evenity, I’ve had some very unpleasant side effects that are troublesome. I’ve only been on it briefly but just not feeling like myself. This was my second try & depending on what my doctor thinks, it may be my last set of shots. Best of luck too you & hope all goes well. Thank you for reaching out. LAB54

I had no side effects after my first injection but the day after my second injection, my back, butt and stomach was covered with an itchy rash and bruising. Endo said it couldn't be the Evinity. Went to dermatologist she didn't know what caused it either. Gave me a topical steroid to stop itching. I take no other medication and don't have any allergies to anything. It's been 2 weeks and the rash & bruising continues.

After my second shot of Evenity, my face was covered with a red rash. I went too my Dermatologist & was put on Doxycycline & Soolontra. He diagnosed it as Roscea & thought it could have been from the Evenity? I had too miss my third set of shots because I am still on an antibiotic & you can’t have the shots on an antibiotic. Fortunately my face has cleared up but apprehensive when I do finally go for my third set of shots. My face was a mess! It was very itchy, but painful as well! I wish you the best & hope your rash clears up.

I am so sorry to hear that. Glad it's better. But what do we do do moving forward? .
I am suppose to get my 3rd next week but still covered in a rash and bruising. I desperately need something for my bones but I can't live like this for a year.

I feel your pain. I’m ready for my third set of shots as well after skipping one month because I was on antibiotics. I’m like you, what should I do? My face has cleared up but scared that it will return again after my third set of shots. What do we do? I can’t live with bad rashes on my face & eyes for a year. It’s itchy, painful & burning. A tube of ointment costs $100. Did you talk too your doctor about your rashes? I did & she said it wasn’t a game changer because she worked so hard too get it approved. I think I will give it one more try & if I continue too have breakouts I’m stopping Evenity even with bad bones. Please let me know what you decide & if you had any more reactions. Good luck & listen to your gut. It’s never wrong! LAB54

Sorry to hear you all are experiencing bad rashes. I too am showing signs of a rash on my chin but so far it has been manageable. I was surprised to learn that you cannot get an Evenity injection if you are on antibiotics. My doctor has never stated that to me. Wishing you all the best of luck.

Yes! Sage infusion told me if you are antibiotics you must wait one week after your last dose. There reasoning was because you could have serious side effects. My Rheumatologist never told me either. So I skipped one month & waiting for my last dose. Wishing you the very best as well! Evenity is still fairly new & they are collecting data for future patients. Hope they get it right so others don’t go through the bothersome side effects that we had to.
