Has anyone experienced leg pain while taking Orgovyx?

Posted by MaxC @cobratk, Nov 22, 2025

I am 77 in good health except for PC, my PSA was 27.4, Gleason score 4+4=8, and decipher score was .84. I am into my 5th month of Orgovyx and completed my 28 IMRT radiation treatments last month. Since completing radiation treatment my first PSA level was < 0.08 and testosterone level was < 20. So far it seams like everything is heading in the right direction. I am doing weight resistance exercise daily for either upper body or legs. I have had some lower back pains that I treated with heating pad which helped. My worst problem now is I am having severe pain in the back my right leg where I was wounded in Vietnam from a 122mm rocket. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced leg pain while taking Orgovyx or could it just be I am experiencing some muscle loss which is causing the pain in the area of the wound.

I saw a PCP regarding my intermittently severe hip and leg pain. His examination, and the xray he ordered, didn't indicate anything in particular. He suggested using a TENS unit to counteract the pain, to stop the particular exercise movements that produce the worst pain, and see him if things don't start improving within a few weeks.

I bought a TENS unit, but I decided to return it after I read the warning on the box. Cancer patients should not use TENS, apparently, because not enough is known as to whether it can stimulate the growth of existing cancer cells, perhaps especially in bone.

After that I looked up Orgovyx side effects. A Mayo Clinic webpage lists the "more common" side effects:

"bone pain, muscle aches, cramps, pain, or stiffness, pain in the joints, swollen joints, neck pain, difficulty in moving"

FYI: a list of "less common" side effects also on that page includes "decreased interest in sexual intercourse", "inability to have or keep an erection", and "loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance".

So muscle aches, pain in the joints, and difficulty in moving are more commonly experienced by patients taking Orgovyx than ED and loss of libido. I had no idea.

I have these problems with pain in the joints and started taking gabapentin. I’ve tried stopping it a couple of times, tapering off, but when I get the dose I’m on reduced by half my joints start to hurt again.

I take 600 mg three times a day. You might find that 100 or 200 works in the beginning. Ask your doctor if you can try it, If it makes sense for you. It’s also supposed to help with hot flashes, though I’ve never really noticed that benefit, others have. It might be helping me and I just don’t realize it since I’m always on the drug and still get some hot flashes.

The prescribing information for Orgovyx has a section on Adverse Events:

I found an article published in late 2024 by authors who reviewed the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System to use clinical data obtained after the FDA approved the drug for widespread use, to summarize the side effects of Orgovyx as experience now shows. A conclusion:

"Common AEs included Hot flush, Fatigue, Asthenia, Constipation, and Myalgia. These AEs should be focused on when using the drug to avoid serious consequences."

Myalgia is muscle pain.

I wrote my medical oncologist who is supervising my ADT to ask him if he thought my muscle pain starting at the hip and involving the entire front of my thigh could be due to Orgovyx. He dismissed the idea and said it was probably arthritis at the hip.
