Has anyone ever heard of this ?
Hi, All !! My youngest daughter, 38, was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. The mass they took outbwhen she had her first surgery was biopsy about 5 times. We just found out that she has 2 different cancers - Cervical and Uterine.
Has anyone ever heard of this?
Thanks !
Amie

@servicegoddess There are many different kinds of cancer and I'm sorry to hear that your daughter has cancer in both the cervix and uterus. I looked back through the posts you made a few months ago when you wrote that your daughter had a mass removed from one ovary and a hysterectomy was recommended.
Did you daughter have a radical hysterectomy where ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and cervix were all removed?
The cervix and the uterus are two different places in the reproductive part of body where cancer can occur. Do you know the kind of cancer that was diagnosed in each place? From my time here at Mayo Clinic Connect I do recall seeing posts from our members of cancers located in different places in the body however I don't know if these were two different kinds of cancer or the same cancer.
Do you a copy of your daughter's pathology report from her hysterectomy? That report will tell you the kind of cancer that was diagnosed. How can I best help you understand your daughter's diagnosis?
it's not uncommon. i had to be tested for both because there was a strong possibility that i had both cervix and uterine cancer. the doctor said they must determine this up front since the treatment for cervix cancer and uterine cancer are different.
i did not have both but the dr. said if i did have both i would have to do chemo first, surgery second, radiation third, and another round of chemo if necessary.
My daughter went in for Chemo #2 yesterday.
About a week after chemo #1 she suddenly developed a rash. It was thought she might be allergic to the immuno-therapy. But she was hooked up and the chemo started - about 10 min in, she asked to be freed up cause she felt she was going to be sick to her stomach. Then a minute later she felt her chest tightening - she's allergic to the chemo meds.
Thank Goodness for Nurses !! They knew what was happening and unhooked the chemo and put a bag of saline going in quickly.
good thing it was caught so quickly. immuno-therapy is a powerful drug they are designed to boost the immune system and thereby weaken the cancer.
hopefully, the medical staff can determine the reason for her negative side effects and can give a different drug to her in the coming weeks.
@servicegoddess Wow, thank you for sharing. This is why there experienced nurses who work in an infusion center. I'm so heartened to know that your daughter's reaction to the chemo meds was caught.
Presumably your daughter's oncologist has been informed about this. Is there any follow-up to the allergic reaction?
