Has anyone been diagnosed with eye follicles that won’t heal.

I have infected eyes. They are red and sore, burning, and watering. I also suffer from dry eye. However my present condition of having eye follicules has persisted for 6 months. My ophthalmologist is puzzled as she says this condition is usually resolved by the immune system. I do not have any immune system problems. She has referred me to a corneal specialist. Can anyone shed any light on this condition?
