@lioness The only tradition I have on New Years Day is to watch the Rose Parade. When I was a child, My parents always put it on TV and we would have a big breakfast.bacon,eggs,pancakes,oranges. We were a large 5 kids..loving family. My Dad has been gone 42 years and my mom 16 years. Well I'm rattling on. Thanks for reminding me of those times! I'll eat sauerbraten and sauerkraut anytime with you!

I have absolutely no New Year's or New Year's Eve traditions. For New Year's Eve I have gone out with my husband to a dance, once; gone bar hopping with friends, once; stayed up late drinking with my brother and calling everyone at midnight, once; prep cooked for an extended family meal, often; and attended church services, often. Most of the time I have spent at home with the children or alone after they left home. Now that most of the extended family is gone I have not added any new traditions.
We have no New Year's traditions. We had another couple over for dinner but they left before midnight to not be on the road after midnight when all the people who had been drinking would be on the road. We just stayed up long enough to watch the infamous ball drop. The next day was nothing special, my husband watched football and I did manage to go to the gym at my health club.
We still have all of our Christmas decorations up. I am a traditionalist and like to leave them up for the 12 days of Christmas. Then they will come down gradually. After seeing how festive they make the house I hate taking them down, the house looks sort of barren without them. That brings to mind a question — is it only in the Northeast candles are put in every window? My son did it in Denver because as he told his fiance, his mother did so he wanted to do it too, but they were the only house on the street with them.
I sure hope 2019 will be a good year for all. 2018 was a bit problematic, so thank goodness it's over.

@cmael@rosemarya I get emotional too. I don't think anyone understands this other than another person who has been through this. It's good to know we are not alone with these feelings.

@contentandwell@cmael@rosemarya Working on the Donate Life float was so emotional. Our first time was less than 3 mths after my husband's kidney transplant, and we have done it each year since. We hear stories, meet donor families, other recipients, and share our story, also. This year we were teamed with board members of a transplant organization from another county, who had never met recipients. It was an honor to speak with them and impress them on the importance of organ donation. We hope someday to hear from our donor family, but nothing so far.
