Hair and nail growth.

Hello I was diagnosed with PMR in September of 2024. I’m on Prednisone 15 mg daily and Acturna infusion monthly. Sorry spelled wrong. I got my hair cut very short in the End of September beginning of October 2024. My hair has hardly grown and my nail toe and finger are barely growing. My hair usually grows like some one Miracle Grows it every night. Is this the prednisone? Will that change once I hopefully get off prednisone? I’ve only had one one infusion so it’s not that

I’m definitely not the one to ask because my nails have always been thin and split easily. They are unchanged but my hair is definitely thinner and grows painfully slow. I am taking both prednisone and Actemra but I think you’re right, it’s not the Actemra. It’s either PMR or prednisone. Hair blessings for all of us! 💖

Not pertaining to prednisone or PMR, but as an aging gardener my nails were splitting and cracking terribly. A friend recommended Moringa leaf powder (an African herb, high in protein, available online and maybe in health food stores) @ about 1/4 tsp daily in my smoothie. My nails are stronger than they're ever been. Might be worth a try. As to hair...I hope to keep my scalp covered! Why that should be such a goal in life I have no idea, but it's mighty thin and I don't see that improving, by the sounds of it, while on prednisone. I think a beautiful smile may be our best defense.
