Ok guys, fresh from the Operating Room, home in my bed watching television. No prostate so hoping no problems. So far so good

It's good to hear from you. Be sure to keep us informed of your progress. For me, every day was a little bit better than the last. Once the catheter came out I improved relatively quickly. In fact, I had to consciously force myself to not try to do too much too quickly. I strictly followed my doctors instructions after surgery and it worked out well for me. Hang in there and Best Wishes!

Thank you, I’m sure everyone has that moment when they have to choose which route to take when dealing with this cancer. Speaking now from experience I can tell you that the initial surgery can be compared to having a double hernia repair. Abdominal pain is manageable, I will pass more along as things develop 🤣

Day 2. Didn’t sleep much last night and vomited about 4 this morning. I guess that’s pretty normal but. Other than that things are going pretty good. Still have the abdominal pain but hopefully that will get better in the next few days

Wow, straight home from surgery? That must be a good sign! Rest up, only the first few days to a week are iffy, the rest is easier!

I hope your recovery is going well; like others have said, the first few days can be a bit rough. Be sure to follow doctor instructions. The catheter was a real pain for me and I was happy when it was finally removed. I did have to go through physical therapy to learn kegel exercises, etc. to help with urinary incontinence; it did help. Hang in there and I wish you a smooth recovery.

Two days after surgery and having some abdominal distress from gas. Learned to take control of the cramp a turn it into a fart! Yep it sounds funny but I’m starting to get rid of this gas finally. Of course still working with a catheter which can be mildly annoying but getting better every day. Taking pain meds religiously

Please be careful with pain meds if you are taking opioids since they can be very constipating. Tylenol and Ibuprofen are fine, of course.
Wishing you super fast and full recovery : )))

Ok, 5 days post op. My bowels have finally started working again. Haven’t had pain meds since Saturday evening and still have a catheter. Each day is a vast improvement over the last and I am looking forward to my appointment with my urologist Wednesday when I expect to have my catheter removed. While I still have some tenderness in my abdomen I am doing whatever I can to get back into a routine of physical activity. Expected to return to work next Monday on restricted duty(no heavy lifting) surf, I took your advice on the pain meds, thanks for the reminder.
