Had upper right lobectomy in 2020. I’m still having severe radiating nerve pain. Anyone else having this?

I’ve migrated to just stretchy bras with no seams and really no support. But that also means no wires and no seams. They are sufficiently modest but that’s about it.

I agree soft bras . I wear camisoles often. I think if I lost abdomen weight it might be less pain. Hard to tell . We have a friend 82 having lobectomy in 2 weeks . Sorry for him . Thanks for sharing

Yea I get it - sad to say.

I still have left side rib pain and pain when I take a deep breath. And like I said some flashes of pain across my upper abdomen. I was offered a nerve block but I passed. I feel like I just have to get used to it sometime - might as well be now.

Hi. Well I also feel it’s forever pain. It has affected my whole right side and middle tummy. But at least I am cancer free. My yearly CT scan next week. Thanks for your reply and I know I am not alone. Have a great day

I am so sorry to hear that. My surgeon told me that my lung cancer lobectomy pain would go away in a year or so. That was in 2000. I still have nerve pain 23 years later. I've learned to block it out most of the time. Winter storms cause it to be more painful. I have a large size heat pad on the back of my chair and keep it on most of the day. The pain tends to be sharper when my back gets chilled and goosebumps.

I hope your nerve pain goes away eventually. When I complain about my scar pain to the husband, he reminds me that I am very lucky to be here.

Hi . I had right lower lobe removed July 2021. I have so much right side pain. It seems since my gut has gained it might be worse. I am guessing nerves and muscles. Had a thoratic epidural no help. Worry about forever pain I am 75

After buying at least 20 different bras I finally found some that I can wear without triggering the nerve pain.
The first one was called “True” but I can no longer find them. Now I buy Bali it has same material as True. Soft, stretchy, no side stitching. As for the pain you mentioned if it’s nerve pain it seems Gabapentin is the most effective for me. As for other pain talk to your pain management they know what can help.
Good luck & hugs.

Food for thought:
I've had a completely different diagnosis- some trouble with chronic pneumonitis and the respiratory nerves were inflamed.
Cymbalta has helped much in calming those nerves.
This is Not a typical use for this med.
Get well and relief soon 🙏

I wanted to thank everyone for their comments in this thread. It helps us all know we are not alone in dealing with this. The chronic pain from my lower right lobe thoracotomy in 2020 has severely impacted my life. I was wondering if anyone has had access to or tried pain reprocessing therapy?
I try to stay positive but currently am taking 900 mg of gabapentin a day, lidocaine patch on my back and nerve block injections but still cannot do many of the things I would like to and still cannot wear a bra.

Thanks. I don’t know if my experience is typical. Now off for 48 hours, the Prednisone has worn off and sadly so has the benefit. I was so relieved to have my rib and diaphragm pain and tension gone. But I’ve messaged my rheumatologist to ask what now. I’m just glad that the issue is inflammation and not something worse. Maybe it will
Resolve over time.

Thanks Pam, I haven’t been given Prednisone but I’ll ask my pain doctor. The injections are steroids but I can only get them 4 times a year. Thanks for your feedback and glad the Prednisone helped you!

It was a short course low dose. But fwiw, as the steroid leaves my system, so does the benefit 🙁 a

I try to be glad that I learned the pain is fundamentally inflammation
