What are the side effects or serious implications of going on any benzodiazepine cold turkey?

FYI: Wife takes two meds, fluphenazine(an anti-psychotic) and temazepam (the "benzo" sleeping pill. The anti-psychotic does wonders controlling her schitzo-affective disorder, but leaves her very, very depressed with insomnia. In the beginning temazepam at 30 mg at night worked, till it didn't. Absolutely no antidepressant works, and she's been on most all of them. So for the last six months I've been extremely involved trying to help, encourage, love... to just reduce the 60 mg she takes down to 45 mg which has totally failed. She only gets one withdrawal side effect, that being nausea, leading to dry heaving. The her depression makes her feels hopeless with daily nausea and and dry heaving, she just wants to die. We know the nausea and dry heaving are from the Temazepamam withdrawal, because when she's nauseous, and takes the Temazepamam, the nausea goes away within 15 minutes. That's how she started abusing the Temazepam... running out before her next refill every month. Her goal, not mine, is to take 30 mg/night, not get nauseous, and seek out TMS therapy for her depression. Please be careful using temazepam.

@nitalisa

Since I posted this question, I have done some research and have decided not to go forward with the treatment. My therapist has suggested I start some gaba and l-tryptophan supplements and a more holistic approach. This is due to the past efforts of various ssri, snri and other anti anxiety and anti depressants which I have had negative results.
Will follow up later as we make more choices as results come to light. Thank you.
