Glioblastoma IDH:wildtype MGMT positive
Hello all!
My 60 yr old husband was diagnosed in Dec 2025 with brain tumor which lead to a resection on Jan 2,2026. Thinking he would go home afterwards, we landed in Inpatient rehab for 3 weeks. 10 days later we were back at Mayo starting radiation + chemo and staying at the Hope Lodge for a 6 week phase. We are 1/2 way done.
He also underwent neuropsychiatric testing and the #1 finding was Major Neurocognitive Disorder (which is the new name for dementia)
His anger and irritation has been better since the removal, however it fluxes depending on the day + fatigue level.
His tumor location is left side frontoproprietal which really has impacted his executive functioning; processing things, insight.
It’s heavy.
I’m happy to have been guided here to learn from others stories and lean into a community of people going thru similar challenges.
I pray for everyone here + praise God for all the people he continues to bring into our lives that need Him just am much as I do!

welcome to this page and the mayo clinic connect groups, My name is randy and i too have been through a lot of your same treatments your both dealing with. sending prayers to you both for healing and strength to overcome this stage of your lives-=================== prayer sent and i hope you have a blessed day today. i Strongly believe in prayer groups and chain prayer where there are those that pass prayer to the church, i had so many people praying for me and my cancerous tumor that i was heard and first testing after the radiation and chemo showed no cancer, blessed be but God. that was all in 2024 and its been a long road to recovery but finally i can see light where at first only dark times. still have short term memory loss but its getting better daily. feel free to ask any questions and i will try to help with answers. have a good day.

2 ReactionsGod bless you and your husband. My brother also experienced the same. We wish you strength as you go through this journey. My brother tried the Optune system, that might be something to consider. 🙏

@kpickowitz we were told the Optune was something they wanted him to consider. May I ask how long your brother used it for? I appreciate you taking the time.
