Constipation, gas and cramping year after reversal surgery: Normal?

Posted by lindadiane @lindadiane, Jan 30 1:53pm

I had my sigmoid colon removed five years ago and had a colostomy bag for months. Reversal went well. Did not have problems with diarrhea. Have had constipation mostly since reversal. I also have IBS. I have daily cramping maybe from gas still to this day. Has anyone else had this problem. Not sure if it's normal for missing your sigmoid colon but very frustrating. I haven't went back to GI because he probably would tell me I have to have another cat scan which I've had too many already.

@lindadiane, welcome. I added your question to the Ostomy support group and the Digestive Heath support group. I hope you saw the helpful post from @alicevondall. I'm also tagging a few members like @cgrogers @barbwith3cats @mary6787 @rhs @timt293 @blinken @jvitanza1 who have had a reversal and can share more about their experiences.

Linda, have you had the issues with IBS, constipation, gas, etc. since the reversal or are these recent symptoms? When did you have the reversal done?
